FAMILY
LAW
At McMurray Regional Law Office we can answer all your questions about separation, divorce, guardianship, parenting arrangements, child support, and adult interdependent partner and spousal support.
Separation Agreements
A Separation Agreement is a written contract that you and your ex-spouse/partner make that states how you will deal with issues including:
-
Child support, custody, and visitation
-
Spousal support
-
Division of matrimonial/family property
-
Entitlement to financial assets
-
Responsibility for matrimonial/family debts

Separation or Divorce
If you separate or divorce, you will need to make many important decisions such as where you will live and how you will manage your finances. If you have children, their needs must be your priority. As a first step, you need to learn all about your rights and responsibilities.

Independent Legal Advice (ILA)
Without independent legal advice, Family Law agreements may not be enforceable in court. ILA is taken very seriously by the courts in Alberta, so lawyers cannot simply "rubber stamp" agreements, they must carefully assess each agreement with a view to each client's personal circumstances and provide ILA.
